Are you interested in the Seattle Floating homes Tour? This year it is in Portage Bay! The biannual Seattle Floating Homes Association Tour is Sunday September 2011 and we are shocked that there are still any tickets at all left! You can buy yours here while they last. There will be none sold on the day of the tour: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2585184
It’s your chance to tour some of the special Portage Bay floating homes in Seattle. For this year, the entire floating homes tour will be centered around just Seattle houseboats in Portage Bay – 13 Portage Bay houseboats plus the University Bridge which is a rare opportunity to see inside the bridge tender’s work quarters. Portage Bay offers some of the most historic homes in Seattle as well as some modern gems. There is something for everyone on this tour.
According to the latest floating home tour promotion postcard that went out on the tour event recently: “This year’s Tour will give visitors the unique chance to visit and discover the colorful history of 13 floating homes hidden along the seldom visited banks of Portage Bay. ”
This tour is something that is very near and dear to our hearts. Molly and I work very hard at every tour doing a variety of jobs. The last two tours, I have put together the actual tickets and promotional posters and I really enjoy reading about the houses. It is an amazing gift to our community that these houseboat home owners are willing to so generously open up their personal spaces so that the public may learn about our Seattle floating community. None of these homes are for sale and this is not a real estate agent’s promotional tour. These are coveted homes that are on display for a limited time during the tour.
Just got word that we are still also looking for volunteers. Here is the message on the latest postcard I put out to the community:
